Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens

This is probably Cape Town’s most popular garden and is visited by thousands of tourists a year. The gardens are set up against the slopes of Table Mountains are incredibly picturesque. Pack a picnic and plan to spend a day walking around the various gardens within. There are gardens featured by types of plants, to useful and fragrance gardens. Remember to also take a walk along the Tree Canopy Walkway.

The Company’s Garden

Located in the city centre this slice of heaven is an oasis to escape to while visiting the city. The gardens are surrounded by History. Visit the Parliament building and museums that surround the garden. There are grassy spaces for you to relax and feed the squirrels. Or you can have a lovely meal at the restaurant.

Arderne Gardens

This garden is known for having the most diverse collection of exotic trees in South Africa. One of the largest trees in South Africa (the Moreton Bay Fig) can be found in the gardens. Find a quiet nook under one of the beautiful trees to relax and take in the beauty around you. Or sit on a bench and watch the wildlife visit the ponds.

Green Point Park and Biodiversity Garden

This lovely educational park is surrounded by some of Cape Town’s most famous landmarks. The garden is split up according to various vegetation types and you can even see where the vegetation grows on the landmarks surrounding it. There is even a lawns garden where it’s best to take off your shoes and let the grass cushion your feet.

Babylonstoren

This is one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms. With this wonderful sense of history, visit their beautiful garden designed by Patrice Taravella. The garden features edible fruits, vegetables, and nuts and even has some feathered friends. Most of the foods grown in this garden are harvested and used at the restaurants on the farm. So after a stroll, visit the restaurant and taste some of the beauty you’ve just seen.

Chart Farm

This farm is the only place in the Cape Peninsula where you can pick your own roses! Take a stroll through the wonderful rose garden and then select your favourites to adorn your home. The farm is located on Wynberg hill and offers amazing views of the Southern Suburbs. There is lots to do for the whole family, including horse riding.

Durbanville Rose Garden

This award-winning rose garden is an iconic part of the Cape Winelands and Durbanville area. There are about 500 different varieties of rose grown in the garden. Stop and smell them, they are beautiful! The garden is one of only three trial rose gardens in the Southern Hemisphere.
