Cape Town - The world's best kiteboarding destination?

Is Cape Town the perfect destination to blow away European kitesurfers "winter blues"?[caption id="attachment_380" align="alignnone" width="614"] Kitesurfing at dusk in Cape Town[/caption]What do you look for when planning a great kiteboarding holiday? Obviously great wind and waves are a must. But most of the world's great kitesurfing spots are pretty isolated and out of the way. These one horse towns can be great for kiting, but they aren't great once the sun has set, and they certainly are not perfect for entertaining any non-kiteboarding friends and partners.Cape Town must certainly lay claim to the best city in the world for kiteboarding. The wind regularly reaches 25 kts on the west coast, but the beautiful thing is that it can still be perfect beach weather (with very little wind) in Camps Bay and Clifton. So the kiters can enjoy the wind and the non-kiters can enjoy the beach. If you are a beginner just wanting to get started, one of the world's best learning locations is about an hours drive away at Langebaan. A huge lagoon which is just about perfect for learning to kite, and has very reliable wind.Cape Town also has a wealth of other activities, so if the wind doesn't blow you have thousands of options to choose from. Hiking, wine tours, beautiful beaches, fantastic restaurants, great night clubs. The possibilities are endless. So why not plan to blow your winter blues away and visit Cape Town for a short kite break?
