Our stay at Camps Bay Terrace Lodge ' What a treat!

Written by our guest, Anita BreedWe recently planned a special weekend to celebrate our friend's 50th birthday. We secured tickets for an international rugby clash at the Newlands rugby stadium and booked accommodation through Nox Rentals on the Atlantic seaboard as a good excuse to spend quality time together.

Seamless reservation

Nox Rentals handled the entire booking process very professionally. Friendly confirmation emails and follow-ups ensured that we knew exactly what to do and how to get to Camps Bay Terrace Lodge.

A warm welcome

Upon our arrival at Camps Bay Terrace Lodge, Chris from Nox Rentals was waiting for us with a big smile and a Nox Rentals welcome bag filled with delicious treats. He showed us the way while helping us with our luggage.Once inside the beautiful home with its gleaming wooden floors and giant roof to floor sash windows, Chris gave us the grand tour and explained everything we needed to know. He showed us how to operate the safes (there is one in each of the three comfortable bedrooms) and supplied the Wi-Fi access code. His friendly professionalism made us feel so welcome, as did the complimentary bottle of wine waiting alongside a welcome letter from the host. Chris assured us that we could phone him any time - day or night - should we need anything or have any queries, before he headed off.

Creature comforts

Camps Bay Terrace Lodge is elegantly decorated and at the same time, comfortable and unassuming. The décor is perfectly balanced with the old world feel created by the wooden floors and sash windows. The library section with its two wing back chairs overlooking the ocean offers a perfect holiday retreat. The home has a large open-plan lounge and dining area which flows onto the patio with its outdoor dining area and inviting pool. Holiday makers can make the most of sunny weather since the lodge is also fitted with outdoor barbeque equipment. The kitchen, while small, is well equipped with a washing machine, tumble drier and dishwasher, oven and hob, microwave and all the usual small appliances. Our two boys loved the twin beds in their spacious en-suite bedroom with double basins. We liked the privacy of our large double bedroom with its sea view window and generous bathroom with walk-in shower and bath. We offered the double bedroom en-suite boasting uninterrupted sea views and a line of sight over the majestic Twelve Apostle mountain range to our half-centenarian friend and his wife.

Dinner at home

After watching a rather disappointing game of rugby at Newlands, we were thrilled to return to our beautiful home for the evening. Camps Bay Terrace Lodge welcomed us back enveloped in the promising aromas of good food. Weve arranged for a private chef from The Food Crew to prepare an exceptional meal that we could enjoy after the rugby. While sipping pre-dinner drinks on the patio and watching the Atlantic Ocean lapping at the rocky shores, Chef Joanne put the finishing touches to our dinner. She served us a starter of grilled prawns on a wild mushroom risotto with truffle oil, which was the perfect antidote to make us forget about our team's loss. Next up was beef fillet roasted and seasoned to perfection, served on a bed of noodles with stir-fried veggies and an oh-so-fresh and crispy Asian salad. The pièce de résistance was a yummy baked cheesecake served with hot chocolate sauce and a berry coulis. After enjoying those epicurean delights in the most perfect of settings, our only complaint was that Chef Joannes portions were far too generous! The beauty of contracting a private chef like The Food Crew is that they dont only take care of the dinner and serving it, but they also clean up. So we could simply move from Camps Bay Terrace Lodges dining room table to the comfortable open-plan lounge without giving a second thought to domestic matters. Here we finished our last drinks, again enjoying the magnificent evening views afforded by the giant sash windows of this stunning home.

The overnight experience

It was bedtime and what a delight to snuggle into a comfortable bed fitted with good quality linen - exactly what the doctor ordered after a long day of fun, laughter and relaxation. Camps Bay Terrace Lodge offered us a quiet, peaceful retreat - perfect for a good night's rest. The next morning, waking up to that view with a cup of freshly brewed coffee (the kitchen is fitted with a coffee machine), we watched joggers, walkers and cyclists until Chris from Nox Rentals arrived with his warm smile to assist with our check-out.If you are looking for a breakaway or holiday with good friends or family, Camps Bay Terrace Lodge is well equipped and spacious enough for three couples. It offers off-street parking for two large and one small car. The lodge is perched against the mountainside (as is all properties with views in Camps Bay), so guests should be prepared to negotiate a steep flight of stairs to the front door. However, we were all in accordance that the view made up for the legwork demanded by the stairs! Now it's your turn. Enjoy the simple luxury of an Atlantic Seaboard stay at Camps Bay Terrace Lodge, or browse our other properties in Camps Bay for more options.
